Periodontal Care

Treatment and maintenance for the gums and bone that support your teeth.

Periodontal care covers the diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing maintenance of the gums and supporting bone around your teeth. Left untreated, gum disease can progress from mild inflammation (gingivitis) to more advanced periodontal disease, which can loosen and eventually lose teeth.

Treatment depends on severity — mild cases often respond well to a thorough cleaning and improved home care, while more advanced cases may need deeper cleaning below the gumline (scaling and root planing) or, in some cases, referral for further periodontal treatment.

Because gum disease often progresses without obvious pain in its early stages, regular check-ups are how most cases are caught early. Your dentist will assess your gum health as part of a routine visit and recommend a treatment or maintenance schedule if needed.
