Dental Implants
A titanium post placed in the jaw to replace a missing tooth root.
A dental implant is a small titanium post placed into the jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth. Over a period of weeks to months, the bone fuses to the implant, after which it can support a crown, bridge, or denture attached on top.
Implants are an option for replacing one missing tooth, several teeth, or, combined with a full denture, an entire arch. Because the implant replaces the root rather than just the visible tooth, it can help maintain jawbone structure in a way that's harder to achieve with a bridge or a removable denture alone.
Candidacy depends on factors like bone density, gum health, and overall health — your dentist will evaluate these, sometimes with imaging, and discuss timeline and options before recommending an implant.
